Guidance on Rules
Whilst the Rules of Hockey are black & white, interpretation thereof is a fine art. Umpires have to use their experience and judgement for each incident. Hopefully these guidance notes will help you for the topics covered and help achieve some consistency across all levels of hockey played in the county.
Following our recent Rules Workshop here is a summary for:
- Aerial Ball
- Raised Stick
- Penatly Corner - breaking early
- The Self Pass
- The Control Ladder
England Hockey have a new education section on their website dedicated to the Rules of Hockey in conjunction with the re-worked Level-1 Umpiring Course.
Anyone can log in and register to go through the on-line rules test. NHUA would encourage all umpires to follow this link and try the test.
